FAFSA Day Massachusetts 2011

By Susan Sullivan, FAFSA Day Tri-Chair

Mark your calendars because this year’s FAFSA Day Massachusetts event will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011. FAFSA Day Massachusetts is a College Goal Sunday Program.  The non-profit program provides free information and assistance to families applying for financial assistance for higher education. FAFSA Day Massachusetts organizes financial aid professionals from colleges and universities in Massachusetts to help families of college-bound students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

With the expected increase in student registrants and the addition of more locations in our sixth year, we are still in need of volunteers. Please register if you haven’t yet.  We would also appreciate if you would encourage your co-workers to give us a few hours of their time.  You don’t have to be a FAFSA expert! Someone with a basic understanding of the process can be a tremendous help. The students and their families truly appreciate our help.  For 2011, there will be 28 sites statewide with eight sites offering assistance on additional dates as well.  Please check the website www.fafsaday.org for all the details and to register to volunteer.

We like to thank all the MASFAA members that participated in our December 2nd fundraiser with Pizzeria Uno. We would also like to thank MASFAA, MEFA and ASA for their continued support of this important program.

The final Site Coordinators meeting will be held on January 14th at Quinsigamond Community College.  If you have any questions, please contact the tri-chairs Beth Feinberg Keenan, Julie Shields-Rutyna or Susan Sullivan.
