The 2009 MASFAA Conference was a huge success. I heard many positive comments and invite those of you who were able to join us to complete the online evaluation when it becomes available. I'd like to share just a few noteworthy events during the conference:

  • Three MASFAA Awards were bestowed on worthy recipients o Charles "Jack" Sheehan Award - Edward M. Kennedy o Presidential Award - Tony Erwin, Northeastern University o Charles E. Jones Achievement Award - Amanda Abreu, Northeastern University
  • MASFAA announced the establishment of the Edward M. Kennedy Public Service Award, to be presented in 2010 for the first time.
  • The 2010 MASFAA Officer Elections has opened and will be available until December 10, 2009. Don't forget to vote!
  • College Goal Sunday kicked off their volunteer drive for the 6th annual event on Sunday, January 31, 2010. Volunteer now.
  • MASFAA's 2009 charity, Anna Maria College's Molly Bish Center successfully raised over $1,700. Thank you MASFAA!
  • The proposal to amend the MASFAA By-Laws was presented and open for discussion. Please review the proposal and vote when it is opened between December 1st and 10th, 2009.
  • 17 Past-Presidents of MASFAA joined the current membership for dinner on Wednesday evening (pictures will available on the MASFAA website shortly).
  • 2009 Graduate Symposium - Counseling Students post the Great Recession - will be held on January 29th at Suffolk Law.

The success of the 2009 conference would not have happened without the teamwork and talent of a great Conference Committee. Please join me in thanking this wonderful group, whose members include: Lisa Kaiser, Kelley Baran and Aimee Grandmaison as chairs. Members Colleen Burke, Jan Marie Combs, Carla DeLucia, Taryn Dunaj, Phyllis Foote, Thomas Frazier, Jillian Glaze, Colleen King, Anne Lucas, Melissa Metcalf and Jennifer Miller Dudley.

If you were unable to attend the conference or all the sessions that interested you, or want a copy of the PowerPoint from a session you did attend, remember that the available conference documents are on the MASFAA website.
