The 2009 MASFAA Conference was a huge success. I heard
many positive comments and invite those of you who
were able to join us to complete the online evaluation
when it becomes available. I'd like to share just a
few noteworthy events during the conference:
- Justin
Draeger from NASFAA spoke to us (his PowerPoint will
be posted to the MASFAA website shortly)
- David
Bergeron from the U.S. Department of Education spoke
to us (his PowerPoint will be posted to the MASFAA
website shortly)
- Three MASFAA Awards were
bestowed on worthy recipients o Charles "Jack" Sheehan
Award - Edward M. Kennedy o Presidential Award -
Tony Erwin, Northeastern University o Charles E.
Jones Achievement Award - Amanda Abreu, Northeastern
University
- MASFAA
announced the establishment of the Edward M. Kennedy
Public Service Award, to be presented in 2010 for
the first time.
- The 2010 MASFAA Officer Elections
has opened and will be available until December 10,
2009. Don't forget to vote!
- College Goal
Sunday kicked off their volunteer drive for the 6th
annual event on Sunday, January 31, 2010. Volunteer
now.
- MASFAA's 2009 charity, Anna Maria College's
Molly Bish Center successfully raised over $1,700.
Thank you MASFAA!
- The proposal to amend the
MASFAA By-Laws was presented and open for discussion.
Please review the proposal and vote when it is opened
between December 1st and 10th, 2009.
- 17 Past-Presidents
of MASFAA joined the current membership for dinner
on Wednesday evening (pictures will available on
the MASFAA website shortly).
- 2009 Graduate Symposium
- Counseling Students post the Great Recession -
will be held on January 29th at Suffolk Law.
The success
of the 2009 conference would not have happened without
the teamwork and talent of a great Conference Committee.
Please join me in thanking this wonderful group, whose
members include: Lisa Kaiser, Kelley Baran and Aimee
Grandmaison as chairs. Members Colleen Burke, Jan Marie
