Massachusetts College Goal Sunday continues to be a huge success. This year we will have 28 sites across the state and this means we will need more volunteers than ever. Last year we served 1400 families in Massachusetts. We hope to increase that number again this year. We are especially proud that we reached many low income families, which is exactly what we want to do.
We’re planning for another great year and your commitment to volunteer will be instrumental to its success. Please go to www.fafsaday.org or www.masscollegegoalsunday.org to volunteer today! You will then be in the loop on all further communications. Let us know your preferred site to volunteer and any particular expertise you have such as second language or good presentation skills. We especially want to know if you are a “FAFSA expert” which means you feel confident going over this form with families. This is the most important job at all the sites. Last year some sites had a good number of volunteers but not enough experienced financial aid professionals. Truly, MASFAA colleagues, we need you and your very specialized expertise!!
For those of you who think you need a refresher, we will hold a FAFSA Update session at the MASFAA conference in November. College Goal Sunday holds trainings on the FAFSA through mapping-your-future as we get closer to the date as well. Watch your email for information about those sessions. Register to volunteer to be sure to be included!!
What is College Goal Sunday?
College Goal Sunday is a non-profit program that provides free information and assistance to Massachusetts families applying for financial assistance for higher education. College Goal Sunday mobilizes financial aid professionals from Massachusetts colleges and universities to help families of college-bound students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the federally required form for students seeking financial aid, including grants and loans, throughout the nation. |
