| GPCC
Symposium |
By Cheryl Constantine Boston University School of Law
Co-Chair, Graduate and Professional Concerns Committee |
On Friday, December 1st, the Graduate and Professional
Concerns Committee (GPCC) held its annual Graduate
Aid Symposium at Boston University’s School of
Management. This year we had our highest attendance
ever: just over 80 members of the graduate aid community
gathered to discuss a variety of topics. We offered
our first concurrent sessions so that we could look
at a topic of interest to specific schools (tracking
Graduate Assistantships) and a topic of general interest
(Personal Financial Planning). We looked at international
students and the challenges they face in financing
their education when studying in the U.S. Lastly, we
addressed a topic familiar to many and oftentimes all
too confusing—borrower incentives during repayment.

We were able to draw on local talent for
almost all our speakers and want to thank them all for
their efforts: Mona Ghuman from Citibank, Seamus Harreys
and Brian Murphy Clinton from Northeastern University,
Jane Etish-Andrews from Tufts University, Adrienne Nussbaum
from Boston College, Pat Gencarella from UMASS Medical
School and Lori Moore from The Access Group.
We appreciate the feedback that was given through evaluations.
If anyone who attended did not complete an evaluation and
would like to, please feel free to contact either co-chair
of the committee.
It was a day of lively discussion and great opportunities
to interact with others in the graduate aid community who
face the same challenges in helping their students. The
GPCC hopes to expand on our past successes and continue
to find new ways to bring MASFAA’s graduate aid community
together. |
