Purpose
The purpose of the committee is to publish the Association’s
newsletter, MASFAA Online.
Composition
The committee is composed of an appointed Chairperson
and Vice Chairperson as well as volunteer committee
members.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Newsletter
Committee are as follows:
- Produce five timely,
informative issues of the newsletter.
- Contract
with designer for newsletter layout.
- Establish
a monthly meeting schedule for the Committee.
- Create
a calendar of deadlines for content submissions.
- Develop
a comprehensive task list that encompasses all
aspects of newsletter
production (article
assignments, editing, etc.)
- Solicit
and follow up on article ideas from Association
members.
- Report on Association activities
and recent industry trends.
- Increase
committee membership and newsletter readership
by attending
Association events
and soliciting skilled
volunteers via newsletter and
MASFAA listserv emails.
- Develop new features such
as polls and book reviews.
Guidelines
and Procedures
- Planning
a. Prior to the MASFAA Executive Council annual
retreat, Newsletter co-chairs will set deadlines
for Newsletter
content submissions and tentative release dates
for each issue
- Committee Meetings
a. At least one month before each content deadline,
Newsletter Committee members will meet, in person
or by way of conference call, to suggest content
for the upcoming issue.
b. Committee members may be asked to approach other
MASFAA committees or specific members to request
content information
c. Committee members will be selected to write
or solicit content for any recurring features,
such
as 20 Questions, Who’s What Where, and polls.
- Executive
Council Meetings
a. At least one co-chair will attend each Executive
Council meeting. If both co-chairs unable to attend,
a committee member may be asked to represent the
committee.
b. The committee’s representative(s) at EC
meetings will solicit feedback on past issues;
request submissions for future issues; and invite
suggestions
of future topics and features

September - Publication of the Fall issue on or
about September 20
November - Publication of the Conference issue in
late November
February - Publication of the Winter issue on or
about February 5
April - Publication of the Spring issue on or about
April 2
June - Publication of the Summer issue on or about
